Materials Science is a highly interdisciplinary field, and currently some of the most exciting advances are happening in the field of Materials – from semiconductors to space technology, and bio-materials. The Minor in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science is designed to give a flavour of this exciting field to students from other departments. There is one core course on "Structure of Materials" since many properties of materials depend on their structure, and two courses to be chosen from a set of courses that deal with various fundamental material properties such as electronic, mechanical, or electrochemical. Two more courses are completely left to the discretion of students so that they may follow their interest.
