Welcome to the Laboratory of Sustainable Metal Extraction

Overview

The primary focus of the research is the extraction of metals (both ferrous and nonferrous) from primary and secondary ores in sustainable ways. The research group is mainly looking into the thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of these various metal extraction and refining systems through high-temperature slag/metal experimental studies, as well as medium-temperature gas/solid experimental studies and process modeling. Our interest involves understanding the phase equilibria, partitioning of impurities between slag/metal phase, and the rate-controlling steps in gas/solid or slag/metal reaction kinetics.
